RuneMate Alternative 2026: What to Use After the Shutdown
RuneMate shuts down permanently on 7 August 2026, citing events outside its control. All account upgrade subscriptions have been cancelled and the client stops working after that date. If you were running accounts on RuneMate, this covers what happens next and what to look for in a replacement.
The short version
- RuneMate — permanent shutdown, 7 August 2026. Subscriptions already cancelled.
- DreamBot — sales and renewals paused; site locks 10 August 2026.
- Already gone in 2026 — PowBot, TriBot, Storm, Inubot.
- Almost every client that closed worked by injecting into the game client.

What is actually happening to RuneMate
The announcement is short and final. RuneMate remains usable until 7 August 2026, after which it will no longer be available. Subscriptions were cancelled by RuneMate rather than by users, so there is no action required to stop being billed. Account data can be edited or deleted from Account Settings before the shutdown, and RuneMate Vault used zero-knowledge local encryption, so sensitive information stored there was never held server-side in readable form.
RuneMate is not an isolated case. Over 2026 the same thing happened to PowBot, TriBot, Storm and Inubot, and DreamBot paused all sales and renewals in August 2026 while it takes legal advice.
What to do before 7 August
- Export anything you need. Scripts, configurations and account notes stored in RuneMate go away with the site. Once profiles are inaccessible there is no support channel to recover them from.
- Check your billing. Subscriptions were cancelled at RuneMate’s end, but it costs nothing to confirm no renewal is pending on your card.
- Do not leave accounts running unattended into the cutoff. A client that stops mid-session can leave characters in awkward states.
- Wind down gradually. Moving every account to a new client on the same day is itself a pattern. Stagger it.
What to look for in a replacement
The 2026 shutdowns had a common thread, and it is worth understanding before picking the next client rather than after.
Injection versus an official client
Most of the clients that fell worked by injecting code into the game client. Injection is straightforward to detect, because the thing being modified is the game itself, and it is also the part that draws legal attention. Of the clients still in general use, most still inject.
Botting Hub runs as an official C++ client. It does not inject into the game. That architectural difference is the reason it is still online while the list above is not.

Whether scripts are still maintained
A dead client usually announces itself first through script rot: updates stop, game changes break behaviour, and nobody fixes it. Before committing accounts, check when the scripts you need were last updated, not just when the client was.
Behaviour, not just automation
Detection in 2026 is behavioural. Fixed click intervals, identical pathing and perfectly repeatable reaction times are what get flagged, regardless of which client produced them. Look for a client that varies its behaviour per session rather than replaying a macro.
Proxies and account separation
Whatever client you choose, running several accounts from one IP undoes the rest of your caution. Check whether proxy support is built in or something you have to bolt on.
Moving from RuneMate to Botting Hub
Botting Hub is a C++ OSRS client with AI-driven scripts, built-in proxy support and scheduling, running on Windows, Mac and Linux. Setup takes an afternoon: install the client, point it at your accounts, assign proxies and set break patterns.
There is a free trial, so you can check it against your own accounts and methods before moving a farm across.
Common questions
Does RuneMate still work right now?
Yes, until 7 August 2026. After that date it will no longer be available.
Will I be refunded for my RuneMate subscription?
RuneMate cancelled all account upgrade subscriptions itself and stated no action is required. Refunds for time already paid were not offered in the announcement.
Are my accounts at risk because RuneMate shut down?
A client shutting down does not itself flag your accounts. What matters is the history already on them. Accounts with heavy recent automation carry that history regardless of which client is running.
Which OSRS bots are still running in 2026?
A small number remain in general use, and most work by injecting into the game. Botting Hub does not inject, which is the main structural difference between them.
Do I need new accounts to switch clients?
No. Existing accounts work with a new client. Stagger the move rather than switching everything at once.
Still botting after the shutdowns
A C++ client that never injects into the game, with AI scripts, proxy rotation and break scheduling built in. Free trial, no setup fees.
