OSRS Cooking Calculator: XP, Time and Botting Profit

Work out the XP you need, how many cooks that is, and how many hours it will actually take — then see what the same hours are worth if a bot does them instead. Pick a fish once; both calculators follow it.

Cooking rates by fish

XP per cook is fixed by the game. XP per hour assumes roughly 1,300 cooks an hour at a bank-adjacent range — treat it as a planning figure, not a promise. Tap a card to switch fish.

The other way to spend those hours

Every figure above assumes you are at the keyboard for all of it. Cooking is withdraw, cook, bank, repeat — four actions, several thousand times — which is exactly the kind of thing that does not need a person doing it.

Botting Hub plays the official game client with nothing injected or hooked, driving it with AI vision and simulated input. Below is what the same fish earns unattended.

botting profit · per month
  • Gold rate — editable above, default $0.20 per 1M GP. Set it to what you actually sell at.
  • XP per hour — about 1,300 cooks an hour at a bank-adjacent range, times the XP of the fish
  • Bond — $2.60 per 14 days of membership, charged pro-rata, so 30 days is $5.57
  • Proxy — $0.50/month per bot
  • Account sale — $8, only once a bot has banked enough XP for 99. Selling ends that account
  • Script price — one-off, not counted in monthly costs

How the numbers are worked out

Old School RuneScape uses a fixed experience curve — each level needs roughly 10% more XP than the last. That is why level 92 is the halfway point to 99: 6,517,253 XP of the 13,034,431 needed.

The XP calculator takes the difference between your current and target level, divides by the XP per cook to get the number of cooks, and divides by the fish's XP per hour to get the time. The profit calculator multiplies that fish's GP per hour by your bot hours, converts at your gold rate, and subtracts bond and proxy costs.

Rates assume a heat source next to a bank, which is why the script only runs two places: the Rogues’ Den range on members and the fire by Draynor bank on free-to-play. Walking is where a Cooking rate goes to die. Note that a fire burns more food than a range at the same level, so the free-to-play route wants a slightly lower-tier fish.

05 questions

Frequently asked questions

How long does 1–99 Cooking take in OSRS?

Roughly 45–100 hours depending on what you cook. Anglerfish at 230 XP each is about 43.6 hours of clicking; tuna at 100 XP each is over 100. Wine-making is faster still but costs a great deal more.

What is the fastest Cooking XP in OSRS?

Of the fish, anglerfish at 230 XP each — roughly 299,000 XP an hour at a bank-adjacent range. Wine-making beats it outright at 400k+ an hour if budget is no object.

How much XP is 99 Cooking?

13,034,431 XP from level 1. Level 92 is 6,517,253 — the halfway point in XP, not level 50.

How many sharks do I need for 99 Cooking?

Sharks give 210 XP each, so about 62,000 from level 1. Anglerfish need around 56,700 and tuna over 130,000.

Where does the Cooking bot cook?

Two places: the Rogues’ Den range in Burthorpe on members, and the fire by Draynor bank on free-to-play. Both have the heat source next to the bank, which is why almost none of the hour goes into walking.

How do I stop burning food?

Cook a few levels below your ceiling, use a range rather than a fire where you can — a fire burns more at the same level — and get cooking gauntlets. Sharks stop burning at 94 with them.

Is Cooking profitable to bot?

It depends entirely on the fish and the gold price. At $0.20 per million, sharks and anglerfish clear a profit at six hours a day; tuna and lobster do not. Use the calculator above with your own gold rate rather than trusting a default.

How much can a Cooking bot make per month?

Use the profit calculator above. At sharks, six hours a day for thirty days is about 54M GP per bot — roughly $10.85 at 5M GP to the dollar, before bond and proxy costs of about $6.07.
